Gai Bol Luom

Gai Bol Luom

Vice President & Head of Family First Initiative

Gai is a visionary evangelist who loves preaching the Gospel and helping his people. He joined Bible teaching in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya in 1993; was licensed as an evangelist by the Diocese of Bor of the Episcopal Church of Sudan in 2005. He led the Sudanese Church at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Nashville, Tennessee as the lay pastor for 15 years. Moreover, he participated in short-term mission teams and fundraisers to support his communities in his homeland of South Sudan. He also took mission trips to South Sudan, particularly Boma and Bor, and helped raise funds for Aid Sudan and Evangelical Alliance Partners Organization. His interests are (i) spiritual development through biblical teachings and (ii) community development through local projects; as the Head of our Family First program, Gai asserts that JIT programs are essential for the growth, development, and prosperity of our diaspora communities and our communities back home in South Sudan. And as such, JITeam must work diligently to exceed our learners' expectations and our communities alike. As an epitome of Excellence, JIT must deliver and deliver big! And this means that our work must be guided by biblical teachings, ethics, and absolute transparency.

Abraham Atem Akech

Instructor & Treasurer

Atem is a professional financier and accountant with over eight years of experience in manufacturing, financial services, and utility industries; and has been teaching courses in business management, team building, ethics, international business, leadership, and small business, for over five years at Collin College in Texas, as an associate faculty. Atem loves teaching because teaching enables him to uplift students struggling in life due to numerous life events or circumstances. “Nothing gives me more joy than hearing a student says, Professor Akech, ‘Thank you for making a difference in my life.’ Mine is not just teaching; mine is also about soothing souls. I have always told my students that if I have made it to where I’m today, then no matter what, they will make it, too,” said Atem.

Angeth Deng Garang

Angeth Deng Garang

Program Coordinator

Growing up, Angeth has always wanted to serve her community through church and school tutoring and mentoring. In high school, that dream came true; she began her volunteer work by serving homeless veterans, helping in our community by teaching young kids at the church, and getting involved in her school activities. And as a result, she became the student HR club president and was later awarded a certificate for her phenomenal work. And she continues to uplift our communities by getting involved with the newly arrived refugees: helping them with both written and spoken English. After she graduated with her HR degree, she did not stop helping her communities, which is why her dream of bringing kids up in great ways is paramount. And given her background in tutoring and mentoring kids and helping those in need, Angeth will play a vital role in helping JIT identify kids who are in dire need and identify better ways to help these kids with their families.
